Now, definitive Prius PHV is finally available for sale, and I only had a chance to test the production model. I am pleased to report that the vehicle mechanics have been fine-tuned. Gone is the body sounds alarming, and no random flashing warning lights on the dashboard. In fact, the car consistently rise to the occasion during the trial for a week.

One thing, though: Seen from the outside, or even inside the cabin, this model is difficult to distinguish from a regular Prius, which is still sold. The only markings are "Plug In" logo, a little more outlets door plug-in, and a few other small details. But now that we are on the topic, what is the difference between the Prius PHV mechanical and regular Prius?

To be fair, no one can deny that it is made with a hard, textured plastic that not only lives up to the aspirations of cutting-edge vehicles. Plus, the decision to keep the main indicator to measure right in the middle of the dashboard has long been controversial. Personally, I manage fine with this setup and I even have fun checking out different charts that summarize information management engine, the monthly fuel consumption statistics and much more natural. Of course, this can disrupt traffic.

The gearbox is controlled by a small lever located at the bottom of the central part of the dashboard. It is very easy to handle, but if you are looking for a "P" position - as I did, time and again, during the first few days of my test drive - you will not find it. To put the car in "Park," you have to push the "P" button instead.
